Learn Shed has a new name. A very simple one. A word that we feel encompasses everything. Part of our own journey has been about learning to, well, just ‘be’ and now that word is the one we’ll be using to reflect our personality and help us settle into our place in the world.
We hope you like it. It means something to us of course, but we’d also like it to mean something to you. That, to us, is terribly important. And so, over the coming weeks, as you see the site begin to morph into its new personality, if you could please bear with us during this process, as it’s bound to be a little messy.
By way of explanation to you, our faithful community, the name and personality of Learn Shed Live began some years ago when we were finding our way. For us, back then, live stream was the right way forward. It was new, exciting, bold, but it was also a terrifyingly expensive method of delivering workshops. And you know what? It wasn’t a terribly relevant or necessary method of delivery either. If we were streaming live fashion shows to you, then absolutely. But over time, we began to feel that live streaming workshops, for a startup that hadn’t sought investment and was just finding it’s feet, was just a little too much. We knew that if we continued, we’d need massive investment. And yet, we knew with that, would go some of what we held most dear. We wanted to keep our audience and community as our top priority, not an investor’s return.
And whilst we are losing the word ‘Learn’ in our name, we are still very much about learning. After all, we truly believe that life is one big lesson and we are here to learn and experience, every single day. There is something powerful about the word learn, yet in print, it began to feel somewhat hard-edged. We felt a softer name was becoming more relevant to what we do.
It’s been a long time coming, possibly six months in the waiting. Waiting for the name to be born. It’s simple. It says it all. We plan to write a whole lot more about our understanding over the past year on the true power of being.
As they say. Be the change, be the creator. Just, well, be.
